The Sri Lanka Thailand Business Council (SLTBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT) in Bangkok in February 2019.

The Sri Lanka Thailand Business Council (SLTBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the   Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT) in  Bangkok in February 2019. Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, and Mr. Rizan Nazeer, President of the Sri Lanka Thailand Business Council, signed the MOU in the presence of Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, and Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, with the presence of Thai Board of Trade members and SLTBC executive members.
The BOT  was  established in 1933 to act as a coordinator between the Government and private sector to promote trade and protect the interests of the country. SLTBC was established 22 years ago as the focal point for the Sri Lankan businessmen to promote trade, investments and tourism between Thailand and Sri Lanka. It is affiliated to federation of chambers of commerce and industry of Sri Lanka ( FCCISL) and  an incorporated body with more than 100 active corporate members.
At present Thailand is Sri Lanka’s 36th export destination and 9th largest import destination. This MOU is expected to further strengthen the trade between two countries.
