Sri Lanka Achieves Upper Middle Income Status

The World Bank has recently raised Sri Lanka from a lower middle income country to an upper middle income country. In its latest report, the World Bank has noted that Sri Lanka’s GNI (Gross National Income) per capita has risen from $3,840 USD in 2017 to $4,060 USD in 2018. This latest figure surpasses the updated threshold for upper-income country status, hence elevating Sri Lanka to the upper income classification.
